Everest Base Camp Trek

After your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport situated at the capital city of Nepal known as Kathmandu, you will be warmly welcomed by our official representative and with comfortable journey by four wheelers will be departed to the hotel. After your check-in some refreshments drink will be provided and our experienced sherpa guide will be there to brief you about Everest Base Camp Trek. After that you can stroll down the street to crop with familiar neighborhood, have supper and relax. This is your first overnight in the valley of temples, probably among the best place in the world.

Early in the morning you will board a nerve-racking 30-minute great lifetime experience flight to one of the highest airport of the world, Lukla and enjoy the Himalayas in full glance as you arrive at airport.  There, you will be introduced to our supporting crew member and commence to hiking to Phakding which is fairly of 3-4 hour through the Dudhkosi valley. On the way you will pass through some incredible local-style suspension bridge, viewing some awful peaks such as Kusum and Kanggru (6367m), and the houses craved with Buddhist language. You will continue your ascent until you reach the beautiful village of Phakding at an altitude of 2652m where you will halt for the night.

After a warm delicious breakfast at Phakding, we will further set out for our second day hiking to the mountain junction town of Namche where we cross and re-cross the river on high airy suspension bridges. Beyond Mojo is the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) which was set-up to protect and preserve the fragile mountain environment and the creatures.
We then take a steep hike to Namche Bazar which is recognized as the gateway to Khumbu valley. If the weather is clear, we get the first glimpse to capture the Mt Everest (known as Sagarmatha). Namche has been the trading hub village in the Khumbu region with a busy Saturday market – a meeting place for the Hindu traders from the lowlands and the Tibetan yak caravans that have crossed the glaciated Nangpa La. This is where we crash out for the night.

Acclimatization is very essential before proceeding to the higher region and to avoid altitude sickness. As Namche is tucked between two ridges of giants peaks of the Khumbu and has an abundance of lodges, tea shops, and souvenir shops. It’s an ideal place to halt and spend a day visiting the Khunde Hospital set-up by Sir Edmund Hillary or take a one hour walk up to the Everest View Hotel above Namche for the sunset view of Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Everest. Furthermore, you can even visit the Khumjung region where a school was established by Hillary and some monastery/museum nearby. You can even taste the bakery product situated at the world’s highest altitude. After going through our acclimatization drills, we head down to our lodge for some beers & good sleep at an altitude of 3440m.

After breakfast in Namche, we step out towards Tengboche enjoying the amazing view of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and close up view of Thamserku. We gradually pass down up to Kyangjuma and eventually reaches Sanasa which is the major trail junction to Gokyo valley and Everest Base Camp. Our trek follows on the gradual trail weaving small fluctuation of land through a beautiful pine forests, spotting some wildlife creature such as musk deer, pheasant or a herd of Himalayan Thar and cross the prayer flags festooned bridge over Dudh Kosi River. We reach Phunki Tenga, a small settlement popular for teahouses and an army post among the alpine woods. After having a relaxed lunch at Phunki Tenga we will further march to a little tough steep up climb through the forests until we reach Tengboche at an altitude of 3860m. Tengboche is a great place for close up views of Ama-Dablam, Nuptse, and Everest. It is even famous for the biggest Buddhist Monastery all over in the Khumbu region. We will spend the night in Tengboche.

We will start up the day with a descend downhill through a magnificent forest, then cross the Imja Khola and climb steadily to the village of Pangboche. This village is directly opposite Ama Dablam (6,856 m), and has exceptional views of the mountain, with the Gompa, Mani walls and scattered pine trees in the foreground. A further two hours walk brings us to Pheriche where we stay for the night.

It’s an appropriate day to take rest and give our weary bones a breather in an altitude of 4572m. However, we don’t remain idle; we can wander up the valley to catch a scenario of a lake, the Tshola Tsho and the perpendicular walls of Cholatse and Tawache. We can climb up onto the ridge overlooking Dingboche for the view of the Imja Valley and the incredible south face of Mt. Lhotse. Moreover, we can walk to a breath away trek to nagatse and capture the mesmerizing nature and at the end bunk out into the village of Pheriche for the night sleep.

With the fresh morning we continue to stretch up into the chorten trail to the wide valley beneath the impressive peaks of Cholatse and Tawache on the left. We then turn right and take a gentle climb towards the foot of the Khumbu Glacier for 1.5 hours. Then we halt at the tea house located at Duglha which is a perfect spot to accumulate the hungry stomach with some delicious lunch. Then we further march into the zigzags trails up through the boulders of the glacier’s terminal moraine. At the top of this climb, there are numerous stone cairns, built for the memorials to the Sherpas who had puffed their final twitch while climbing Mt Everest. The path then steeps gently along the glacier and eventually reach the cluster of houses at Lobuche for an overnight.

Today it’s a long and gritty day and a day to accomplish the victory in living. After having a warm breakfast at our lodge, we climb through meadows and moraine stones for 2 hours to reach Gorakshep, by either climbing to Kala Patthar or continue heading to Everest base camp. The initial part seems easy but one hour later the trail can get really tough. Once we climb about 150m the trail gets better again until we reach the world’s highest settlement at Gorakshep at an altitude of 5160m. Once we fulfil our stomach with a lunch, we begin our hike to Everest base camp but we suggest you to make a beeline for the Everest base camp. Furthermore, we will be steeping on a side ridge of Khumbu glacier for another 1.5 hours to reach Everest base camp area. Finally, we are able create a history in climbing to an altitude of 5360m and cherishing the effort of everyone and unlocking the mysterious side of thrilling nature by observing the glacier and icefall of Khumbu region. Moreover, with a great sights of the skyline of the Tibet plateau, we then step back to Gorakshep and have a rest at a lodge.

Kicking the day with an early morning tea/coffee, we will climb up to Kala patthar at a height of 5545m and enjoy an eye-catching sunrise view of Himalayan ranges. From Kala Patthar, you can have a panoramic view of Mt. Everest and other mountain peaks that include a host of famous ones: Mt. Pumori, Mt. Lingtren, Mt. Khumbetse, Mt. Nuptse, and Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku, and other numerous peaks. Due to its tough terrain people usually prefer yaks as four-legged porters in this area then the human porters. After around 4hours of trek we reach the town of Pheriche also known as a highly windy town. Here about, you can see the perpendicular walls of Cholatse and Tawache. The Himalayan Rescue Association Aid Post is also located here at Pheriche at 4240 m. with a western volunteer doctor, that offers treatment and consultation to trekkers. We stay overnight at a lodge.

Today we’ll pass through Pangboche village and Tengboche monastery. The trail is well-established but with some ups and downs. Kenjuma is a small settlement nestled in the heart of the forest, and if we’re lucky, we might catch a glimpse of wildlife along the way. From Kenjuma, we’ll be treated to a breathtaking panoramic view of Mount Ama Dablam, Mount Thamserku, Mount Lhotse, and other majestic peaks.

Both Chhumo and Phakding are popular destinations after Kalapathar on the Everest Base Camp Trek. The treks to each destination offer stunning scenery and unique experiences, so it can be tough to decide which one to choose. The trail follows the Dudh Koshi River, with views of the mountains in the distance.

Phakding is a larger village than Chhumo, with more shops and restaurants. It’s a good place to rest up and stock up on supplies before continuing your trek. Ultimately, the best choice for you will depend on your preferences and fitness level.

We gathered all those amazing memories in our hearts and some in cameras. Early in the morning, we took a seat and left Lukla for Kathmandu, steering clear of the strong winds for around forty-five minutes. Once we landed at Kathmandu airport, we were taken to our hotel.

It’s the final day in Nepal. After warm breakfast in hotel, the travel vehicle will escort to the international airport three hours before our scheduled flight back home.
